13" Tall Hand Carved Wood He'e Octopus Hawaiian Makau Fish Hook on Base

Beautifully hand carved, wood fish hook features an intricate Octopus on the front and other carvings all around the lower part of the hook. The approximately 13-1/2" tall hook is attached and lashed to the wood base that measures about 6" x 2-1/4". The top is also cord-wrapped. In Polynesian myth, Kanaloa, the god of the ocean, often took the shape of an Octopus. The Octopus symbolizes the link that unites all the Polynesian islands.
