• Neomarica gracilis: Walking Iris. Elegant lightly fragrant, white, iris-like blooms with ornate markings emerge from strappy foliage. Unique walking habit forms new plants. Easy-care perennial for shade/borders.
• Care: Plant in fertile, well-draining, slightly acidic soi with high organic content. Locate in partial afternoon shade. Water as needed to maintain consistent soil moisture until well-established. Feed a good quality, slow-release, general-purpose fertilizer with the initial planting and annually in spring thereafter.
• Indoor Growing: Iris are sometimes grown indoors, but require an extraordinary degree of care, planning, and modifications to provide adequate light and an appropriate range of temperature differentials to produce flowers. Since flowers are short-lived, only lasting a day or two at most, the reward vs the work required is not justified for most gardeners.
• Climate: Recommended for outdoor growing of Zones 8, 9 and10, and 11.
